Why do you need to Shorten Long URLs

Social Media and Communication platforms like SMS, Whatsapp, Twitter etc has Character Limits.
Eg: in a Text message the character limit is 160 chars. Most of the long URLs by itself will be more than 160 characters. To send a mass communications/Bulk messaging you may need to send 2-3 messages to deliver one campaign content. Short URLs will occupy less than 10 characters in a message which will spare more characters to be used for actual content
The other advantage of using Short URL is, its easier to type a 10 char short URL than typing a 100+ char long URL
